insomnia and the election

well it's 5am and i can't sleep. may have something to do with my jet lag, as i just arrived back in bangkok at around midnight last night after having woken up at 4:30am wednesday to take the first flight from pittsburgh. ugh!!! huge layovers in chicago and narita. can't wait for the new long-haul flights from se asia to start, as waiting around in airports when you haven't slept for a day is hell. Watch out, boeing!

anyway, i found an interesting site- it's a market where futures are traded on current events. there's a market for the 2004 presidential election which, as of today, has bush leading 52 to 47 (putting 47 cents on kerry will pay off a dollar when he wins in november).

oddly enough, if you look at the graphs you can see that some people are still betting that hillary clinton will secure the democratic nomination!

i read that thai airways has some airbus a340s on order- so direct flights from us hubs to bangkok should be in the works. woohoo!!! i tell ya, it's really worthwhile as the layovers in airports can be killer. i was in narita for 3 hours and chicago for 3.5 hours!
