night turns into day
a storm passed through bangkok earlier this evening. was quite the light show but sukhumvit was spared of most of the rain. this view looks south-east from sukhumvit with lake ratchada and asoke road in the center. although it looks at first glance like lightning struck the dark-colored lake ratchada tower building, the strike was actually behind the building and to the right- just visible in the photo.

That lightening last night was pretty impressive. I don't normally pay that much attention to storms, but we actually stood up and went to the balcony to watch it and from our view point it was all happening behind the Emporium building.
I never managed to snap the lightning with my camera. What shutter/apeture settings did you use?
baba- was quite the display but not much rain, at least where i live. i like watching thunderstorms- one of those 'insignificance against nature' type things.
pisal- my camera has a maximum exposure setting of only 8 seconds, and as there's no tripod mount i have to set it on auto-timer and put the camera on the edge of my balcony. i just repeated the process over and over until i got lucky and caught the lightning bolt. i caught a better one here last month. ideally i'd like to get a digital slr with unlimited exposure time, a tripod, and remote shutter control. that's on my xmas list. =)
I remember that view! But it never looked that good. You really do manage some great shots of lightning, I am very jealous.
