shanghai at night

the giant thermometer says its just above freezing...

but there's still a queue of people waiting to get into pizza hut.

and kfc is as busy as ever.

though the 'fake kfc' isn't doing as well.

nanjing road lit up in neon.

shoppers brave the cold weather for an evening stroll.

the many lights make nanjing road brighter than in daytime.

the jw marriott looking like a crashed zentraedi ship.

one of the many buildings shown off using colored spotlights. nearby my apartment there are even multi-colored tree lights.

I never thought I'd see the day a non-Japanese person mentioned the zentraedi :)

hahah.... wow i thought no one would get that obscure reference- and you got it right away!
i'm to find a pic of the crashed zaentraedi ship online but no such luck. i'll have to look thru my dvds and do a screen capture.
wanna know how tasty the fake KFC is .. ;)
but umm looks like a nice shopping city
I have a hunch that KFC in different parts of the world will have different tastes due to localization. I wonder if that is true.
Are the original KFC there in China different than the ones in Bangkok? Just curious.
At least it would be better than Chinese Fried Chicken... CFC. Where are you off to now, Rick Hunter?
nice blog!!
Hi. Nice blog!
By the way, just FYI, except for the outside appearance, the "fake KFC" chain is not an imitation of KFC. It is called "Yonghe Dawang" and sometimes "Yonghe Doujiang" and it specializes in Chinese food, such as "doujiang" (bean soup). The menu has nothing in common with KFC at all. Nor does the inside appearance of the place.
I would have to say that KFC does taste different depending on where you are. I personally perfer Singapore KFC over North American KFC - it's spicier. They also have mashed potatoes with gravy there!
I love KFC in china, I ate it all the time it was tastier and cheaper I will miss it and that wasnt a fake kfc it is a different fast food chain with noodle soup and stuff.
I have been there, when it is not freezing and it is so lively, I wish I can go back. :)
