rocky vi: is strange shell wave

working here in johannesburg, many of my evenings during the week are spent relaxing at home safely tucked away from the rather intimidating goings-on outside. in anticipation of this, i bought back from shanghai on this trip an enormous pile of dvds that i've slowly been making my way through.

one of the dvds i brought back with me was rocky balboa. i'd seen it already and enjoyed it a lot so thought that if the quality was ok it'd definitely be worth a second look.


i was hoping it was actually the right movie, as some dvds with incorrect titles are actually something completely different- a documentary of the making of the movie or even a completely different flick. i was happy to see it was both the correct movie and watchable. even better, the subtitles were hilariously mangled, almost as much as in the backstroke of the west dvd i bought a while back.

so without further ado, i present to you rocky vi: is strange shell wave.


"yo, rock!"
the names are all mangled. rocky is is strange.


though it looks like some sort of cultish religious greeting- she's actually saying, "hello, adrian's"


"are you little marie?"


mason dixon visits his trainer, who apparently has a lot to say.


rocky has an interesting way of greeting his customers.


"dixon onloads on balboa"


paulie tells rocky what he thinks of marie's son.


rocky explains his career decision to his son. totally harmless, it's just...


his son isn't too enthusiastic about the idea.


rocky's trainer carefully explains their strategy for winning.

"let's get ready to rummmmmmmmmble!!!"


"rocky! rocky!"


mason is hurt.


no spoilers here, but it's safe enough to show you that rocky... err... attained something.

altogether a great movie and I'm looking forward to both the normal and mangled versions of john rambo.
